Frequently Asked Questions
What does Kin & Keepsakes offer?
Kin & Keepsakes is a small Australian boutique dedicated to thoughtful, heritage inspired gifts and designs with storytelling. Everything is created or selected with care, from our own in-house designs to special pieces chosen to complement each collection. Our range preserves memory and place through candles, clothing, home decor, keepsakes, signature scents, and limited edition family history publications. Some items are handmade in small batches, while others are produced through trusted partners. Every piece is chosen with intention to bring meaningful, well-made items into your home and celebrations.
Can I request a custom design?
Yes. If you would like a custom piece for your home, a family gathering, or a special gift, reach out with your idea. We can create something tailored to your vision or unique for your event.
What books are included in the collection?
Our heritage work will include family history books and reunion booklets that preserve memories and honour past generations of Australian families. Some are fully published works and others are family-created histories shared through reunions and community projects. Several new titles are currently in progress.
Are books available for download?
Yes. eBooks purchased through Kin & Keepsakes are available for digital download. If you have difficulty accessing your file, contact us and we will resend the link or provide the file directly.
Once a digital file has been downloaded, we do not offer refunds unless required under Australian Consumer Law.
What are the blog stories about?
Our blog shares short heritage stories that capture moments in time, personal stories, and insights into the families and places that shaped our Australian story. These posts offer a brief introduction to the deeper research found in our books.
Can I ask about my family’s heritage?
Yes. If your enquiry relates to one of the families featured on our site or in our collections, feel free to contact us. We are happy to direct you to useful resources.
Can I copy or reuse the photos in the books or on this site?
All Kin & Keepsakes featured books, blog posts, designs, and images are protected under Australian copyright laws. Many photos are original or restored by Kin & Keepsakes, while others appear with permission from their copyright owner.
Images cannot be copied, screenshot, downloaded, scanned, photographed, or republished elsewhere, including online family history platforms or similar, without written permission from the relevant copyright holder, which may be Kin & Keepsakes, or a third party. If you would like to use information or a particular photo for family research, a school project, or other personal use, contact us and we can advise on what is possible.
Do you have a physical retail store?
Kin & Keepsakes is an online boutique, which means you can browse and shop anytime from the comfort of your home while supporting a small Australian business. For behind-the-scenes updates and new collection launches, visit our Kin & Keepsakes Facebook page.
Do I need to create an account to place an order?
No. You can place your order using guest checkout. We only ask for your name, shipping details, email, and payment information so we can process your order and send tracking updates.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major debit and credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and PayPal. All payments are processed securely through Squarespace and PayPal at checkout. Your card details are never stored on our website.
Do you charge GST?
No. Kin & Keepsakes is a small Australian business operating below the current Australian GST registration threshold. We are not required to register for GST, so we do not charge tax on our products. The price you see is the price you pay, nice and simple. You will still get a receipt with your order.
Are all products printed on demand?
Not everything is printed on demand (POD). Some items are produced through POD partners, allowing us to offer unique designs without holding large quantities of stock onsite. Other pieces, including handmade and curated home decor, are sourced or produced locally and are ready to ship by Kin & Keepsakes.
What is print on demand?
Print on Demand means an item is made specially for you once your order is placed. This supports sustainable production, and allows us to create and offer a variety of designs and wider selection of items. Production times vary depending on the product and partner.
Will the colours or appearance of my item match exactly what I see online?
We take care to display our products as accurately as possible. However, colours and appearance may vary slightly due to device screen settings, photography lighting, and printing or manufacturing processes. Minor variations are not considered faults under the Australian Consumer Law.
How do I care for my product?
Always check the item’s care label. Care instructions are also included on each product page on our website. If you ever need extra help or clarification, contact us.
