🪶 About the Authors & Stories

Stonestreet Family, Blayney Golf Club, November 2024 ©️ 2025 Stonestreet Family Archive

This collection celebrates 200 years of the Stonestreet family in Australia — a legacy that began in 1824 when three brothers from Sussex, England, were transported aboard the Mangles. Moses, William, and Levi Stonestreet never returned to the country of their birth, but built new lives on the land at Kings Plains in Central West New South Wales. From convict beginnings to pioneering farmers, their descendants have carried forward stories of resilience, humour, and hard-earned success.

Spanning 190 pages, this book brings together family stories, rare photographs, and recollections contributed by generations of relatives. The project was created to coincide with the Stonestreet family reunion held in Millthorpe in November 2024, marking the 200th anniversary of the brothers’ arrival in Australia.

Throughout the pages you’ll find the names of many connected families, including: Amos, Andrews, Brain, Cashen, Death, Fuller, Ferguson, Grives, Holley, O’Donnell, Oates, Price, Sherlock, Smith, Sullivan, Walsh and West.

Inside are tales of bush life, sheep runs, spirited ancestors, runaway livestock, orchard harvests, ghost sightings, Scrabble tournaments, and the occasional emu. These aren’t just stories — they’re living memories passed down with love, humour, and a good splash of homemade tomato sauce.

This is not just a history. It’s a tribute to family in all its forms — honest, enduring, and always ready for a yarn.
